Concrete Calculator

Estimate cubic yards or meters of concrete needed for slabs, footings, columns, and stairs.

Settings

Calculate concrete for rectangular slabs such as patios, driveways, and garage floors.

L: ft × W: ft × D: in

Calculate concrete for wall footings and continuous strip foundations.

L: ft × W: ft × D: in

Calculate concrete for round or square columns and pillars.

Diameter: in × Height: ft × Qty:

Calculate concrete for a set of stairs based on step dimensions and platform.

How It Works

Formulas by Shape

Slab / Footing (rectangular):

Volume = Length × Width × Depth

Round Column:

Volume = π × (Diameter / 2)² × Height

Square Column:

Volume = Side × Side × Height

Stairs:

Volume = Width × Σ(step rise × run × step count) + platform

Each step is treated as a rectangular block. The staircase volume is the sum of all step blocks plus any top platform.

Unit Conversions
  • 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet
  • 1 cubic meter = 1,000 liters
  • 1 cubic yard ≈ 0.7646 cubic meters
Ordering Tips
  • Add 5–10% extra to your estimate for waste and spillage
  • Ready-mix trucks typically deliver in increments of 0.25 cubic yards
  • A standard 80 lb bag of pre-mixed concrete yields about 0.6 cubic feet (0.022 cu yd)
  • For large pours (> 1 cubic yard), ready-mix delivery is usually more economical
  • Ensure forms are secure and level before pouring
